Bridget whelped on May 22nd. She delivered 5 puppies naturally and the 6th puppy was malpositioned. I worked with her for a couple hours before giving up and taking her in. We did a c-section and was unable to save the puppy. She has 3 girls, 2 boys, and they're doing great. They were very big puppies! Weiging in at 8oz at birth, they are the largest puppies I've ever had! Bridget is recooperating very well. We have all brindles and one little girl is our 'Lanie Too', named after their sister that we lost to an accute unexplained death at 4 mo old last year. We're excited, as I know all of the other puppies' owners are as well!

Winner of Toto Casting Call
The Toto Casting Call was a lot of fun. There was a casual and fun environment and various breeds entered from Cairn Terriers, Terrier mixes, to Jack Russels! The contestant that traveled the farthest was from Oklahoma! Others were from the Lexington area. One Cairn mix had been adopted from a shelter just the week before. It was great to meet dog lovers and their beloved pets. We had a lot of interest in the Col Potter Cairn Rescue Network as well as Crooked Creek Cairn Terriers and Designer Dog Avenue.com.
The dogs were judged on their appearance as a Toto look alike, their ability to be held by a stranger, and the owner's reason why their dog should be Toto. With the points added, the judges then added their top scoring dog's points together, and the dog with the most points won. We were glad to only know the dogs by contestant number because it would have been very hard to decide otherwise! The winner was Sea Biscuit, a black Poodle/Terrier mix that was just adorable.
In attendance was the founder of the High Hope Steeple Chase from 41 years ago! We found out afterwards that the winner of the contest was actually her dog! For photos of the event, visit the Crooked Creek Cairn Terriers web page.

It's A BOY!
Jazzy delivered a boy at 1215pm with Rick and I's help. He's a big boy! We were hoping for a paint in color and he is solid colored instead. We aren't positive, but believe he's a rare champagne, being a reddish cream with amber eyes. I've never seen one before, so the eyes have me shocked! We're very excited to have participated in his birth and are relieved that he and Jazzy are doing well!

It's a Girl!
She's here and she's perfect!!! Just what I hoped for all this time. Kiah delivered a beautiful baby girl, grulla in color with no white markings! This is the rarest of colors and she looks just like Mama! I couldn't have asked for anything more perfect. I will bless her with the name Mahala, a family name, and the name I've waited so long to use for a baby girl. It's Native American meaning bold woman.
